| Zimmerfan: Do you want Reva to be with Richard instead of Catherine? Kim: Oh no, because Reva was never in love with Richard. Catherine was in love with Richard not Reva. Reva will always love Josh. If she gets another bout of amnesia she may be Catherine again. robinpiglet_1999: What were the best and the worst moments of your career on GL? Kim: My best moments were always acting with Larry Gates, who played H.B. Lewis, and the worst part was probably the Amish storyline, except for Amy Ecklund. Lolo4RN: Have you spoken to Kimberly Brown in regard to her film, Tumbleweeds? Kim: Kimberly and I have been communicating online and I hear she looked beautiful at the Golden Globes. Lolo4RN: Will Reva and Cassie be able to rebuild their relationship again? Kim: Well I know that the writers will probably get amnesia about what Reva and Cassie have been through, but I'm hoping that they'll have the guts to not make it an easy fix. They both said some terrible things to each other and those things should take time to mend. DSPeercy: Kim, how do you manage to compose yourself with so many mixed emotions? Kim: Well, the minute an emotional theme is over, it's forgotten. I have a way of being able to forget the depth of the emotion and go on with the rest of my day knowing that the next day will no doubt be just as emotional. There are only so many computer chips in a person's brain and they need to be cleared out on a regular basis. mace44_99: I loved the storyline of Kyle and Reva in the mid 80's. Now that you are single what are the chances of bringing him back to rescue you out of your loneliness? Kim: Wouldn't that be wonderful! I haven't spoken about Kyle with the writers, but there's one or two writers left who know the history of that storyline. So all I can say is, if it's something you want to see happen, get on the internet and write your letters. It would be interesting since Josh never knew Kyle. itsallinthekiss: Did you know from the first moment that there would be such a powerful onscreen chemistry with "Josh"? Kim: I knew after about the first three months of working with him. I developed a huge crush on the man, even though he was really mean to me at the beginning because I worked differently than he did. So, in the beginning it was tough but we eventually fell into a rhythm that made the love between Josh and Reva believable. Lolo4RN: Do you think your character has changed drastically over the past few months? Kim: I keep reading about that, that Reva has become a completely different person. I don't think she's different, but she's dealing with circumstances that are different. Her problems in the past have always been about Josh, and here she has to deal with five missing years that were equally important to her, even though she was a different person. But I do think that Reva has lost a bit of her sense of self, although some fans would say that I've been incredibly selfish, I disagree. What Reva has been trying to do is complete this part of her life in order to move everyone ahead. beckster3467: Does it bother you that the producers once again have pulled your character away from Joshua? Kim: Yes, I think that the producers and writers are having a bit of trouble with it. I've been involved with the show since 1983. I think what's happened is that they've lost sight of the important history of the show. I know we have a lot of new fans that don't really care about the history because they don't know it, but we have a lot of fans who do remember. Josh and Reva are a big part of that history. It feels very disjointed. I think that's the problem the fans have been having, with Reva as well. She's always had a through line. The writers don't know what to do with Reva and this makes the fans angry. I think Reva's going to finally become independent of men, get a life for herself and concentrate on her teenage children. psykopath666: Was it hard playing a clone? Kim: I would not have liked to see it continue. I would have liked them not to have killed Dolly. I think they could have had great fun keeping her available to stir up trouble. It was exhausting and really tough on the crew. The hours were long. It was technically difficult. Artistically it was the toughest thing I've done but I'm glad it's over. missy0524: Will Marah be giving us a little of the "Reva in Red" attitude from the old days? Kim: I don't know how much of the real 80's Reva will be in Marah, but she's going to be a force to be reckoned with, a real spitfire. muffin9_55044: What is Brad like? Kim: Bradley is very warm and charming, a lot like the Prince without the accent. And he has incredible eyes that you get lost in. They're green. And he's very funny, oddly enough. I was instrumental in choosing him. I won't go into the particulars but I adored Brad when he tested and let him know it, even though I pretty much knew I wouldn't end up with him. kimrobertfan: Kim, I noticed that you said when you first won your first Emmy you had the Patti LaBelle hair thing going on. Do you listen to her music? Kim: I am not well educated in Patti's music but when I hear one of her songs I love her. I'm a huge Aretha Franklin fan, and an Ella Fitzgerald fan. LadyBryn: How do you keep in such great shape? Kim: Oh, whoever you are, I LOVE YOU. I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU! I've been lazy this past year or so but I'm on the road to recovery. I kind of got lazy and tired and had the attitude of "What do I care?" I realized that I wanted to get back in shape. I'm very athletic. I play tennis, rollerblade, golf, walk, go to the gym. I go to the gym 4 days a week and I'm playing women's soccer. We didn't have women's soccer when I was growing up. It's so much fun. RevaFan: How should die-hard Zimmer supporters deal with your upcoming vacation from GL? Kim: Watch old tapes. I'll be off the show for almost 3 1/2 weeks. Major rest and relaxation. I'm going to visit friends in Los Angeles. LadyBryn: Are any of your children interested in acting? Kim: All 3 of them unfortunately. My daughter applied to 15 colleges; she's a senior this year. Most of the schools she applied to have good theater departments. She has a really good natural quality to her. I think the boys are going to be the next Cohen Brothers. They write all their own stories, cast their friends and we shoot mini movies over the summer. quinkaj2000: Is Olivia going to be the next Annie? Kim: From what I understand, no. If they try to do that with Crystal, I'll quit. I'm just not interested in playing that story. Pigtails54: Are you keeping in touch with Cynthia Watros? Kim: Yes, and I'm thrilled that the series she did will air in March. I understand it's gotten very interesting reactions. People either love it or hate it. I can't wait to see it. muffin9_55044: Are you really going to come down with cancer on the show? Kim: No. That story was scrapped in favor of the summer San Cristobel storyline. They thought a cancer storyline over the summer would be too depressing. Now One Life to Live is doing it! I wanted to do that. It was going to be ovarian or uterine cancer, cancers people don't know too much about. The writers had been very excited about doing it. cowgirl2000_23_1999: Kim, do you have any children of your own and how old are they? Kim: Rachel is 17, 18 in June. Max will be 13 in March and his voice is changing. Jake will be 10 on Valentine's Day. dave2_13452: Do you feel that the That the Powers That Be should have aged Marah and Shayne? Kim: What do they call it? Soras? I love that name. It's like a kick in the ass when they age your kids over you. I didn't mind it because it creates more opportunities for storylines. There are so many things that teenage kids have to deal with today so I really hope they explore that. At least that will create more possibilities. martha_tinsley: Which one of the actors/actresses on the show are you closest to? Kim: Robert Newman. We've dealt with the same kinds of things that a married couple would have to deal with. He knows almost everything about me. He knows when it's my time of the month! And then there are several crew members who have been around as long as I have as well. Lolo4RN: Will you be at both the SOD Awards and the Daytime Emmys this year? Kim: I will be at the Digest Awards. Lolo4RN: When will Reva take off that SC ring? Kim: She does take it off. I don't make a big deal out of it though. I can't remember the details about it. I told the writers I wanted a scene about it but they never wrote one. So it's no big deal. missysd: On The View they told us you and Laura Wright are feuding. Is it true? Kim: No. Laura and I never see each other anymore so we can't feud. We get along beautifully. I love her daughter and her husband designed my kitchen. feliz_f: Have you ever considered doing TV movies? Kim: I've done several TV movies: Hell Hath No Fury, Keeping Secrets, and the Disappearance of Vonnie. I was like the queen of TV movies for a while. But I haven't done any recently. gingle91858: Who are some of your favorite soap actors/actresses? Kim: Robert Wood, I adore him. Anthony Geary. Genie Francis. I love watching them. Of course, anyone on our show. I'm entranced with Tammy Blanchard. It's not her fault she's whining every day. A. Martinez is another one. Lolo4RN: Will Marah resent Reva for splitting the family up? I know some of the issues were dealt with...I wonder if there is more? Kim: Marah becomes my warrior, sort of speak. She decides that she's going to take it upon herself to destroy Josh and Olivia. She becomes my little champion, as much as I try to stop her. kimrobertfan: Kim how was it on the cooking show? I can't remember the name. Kim: It was soap week. It was fun. He's a knucklehead, though I may have got food poisoning from his lamb. He cooked the lamb right there, really fast, and I don't think it was cooked enough. kab27_2000: Kim, what's the best part of your day on the set, and what's the worst? Kim: The best part is the actual work. The worst part is getting into hair and make-up. I'd much prefer to stay in my comfortable clothes. The show starts around 7am. I get in at 6:30. An early out-day for me would be 1pm, though I usually get out around 4:30-5pm. rtb1234: Do you ever surf the web and do you have e-mail? Kim: I don't ever chat on the web because I can't type, but I occasionally read message boards when I want to feel bad about myself. When I wanna have self-inflicted pain I go to the board! I do have an email address, but it's personal. moogie1949: Speaking of A. Martinez, how did Santa Barbara compare to Guiding Light? Kim: Well SB was...when I showed up on that show, all the actors were looking for new jobs because they knew it would be canceled. The morale was really low. I had a positive attitude about it though. califan_99: Kim, are you a morning person or a night owl? Kim: Doing a daytime soap, I'm a morning person. I usually don't stay up past 10:30pm. jcshc: Has Jonathan been completely let out of the storyline now? Or will Cassie have a son, and will there be conflict later between the new son and Jonathan? Kim: A conflict would have to be in about 18 years! As they have a tendency to do, Jonathan will probably be forgotten. There have been some interesting things posted on the message boards but I don't know how much of it will actually happen. missysd: Which side of Reva do you like playing the best, the wild side or the good kind-hearted side? Kim: Oh my God, the wild side! As an older, wiser woman there are other ways to be wild. She doesn't have to dance on table tops. She could take up a cause and be wild. jcshc: If Richard and Cassie marry and stay in San Cristobel, will this mean that they will leave the show, or just always travel back and forth? Kim: They'll travel back and forth or Richard will abdicate the throne. I really don't know. I'm going away. I don't care! brin27: Kim, any truth to the rumor about a serial rapist in Springfield? Will Marah's attack get more story? Kim: Not that I know of. I haven't heard anything. Like I said, I'm kind of out of the loop. My mind is on my vacation. But I haven't heard anything. no_xq_sus: How do you deal with it if when a scene or a story line grossly conflicts with your personal beliefs? Kim: I haven't really had to deal with that. The closest thing I ever had to deal with was when Reva had to attempt suicide. I didn't know anything about suicide. They had to convince me that it was a good idea. You have to realize that it's your job to play a character. It's not you, it's your character. If that's what they want to do, that's what you're paid to do. maladynancy: How did you feel about the firing of Michael Z. from GL? Kim: That is a question that I don't like talking about. There are so many levels to that decision. I hated the fact that they didn't have the guts to make Roger Thorpe sick. Do we have a Robert Thorpe on the show? No. They said they couldn't make Roger a wise old man, but we hadn't even seen him. kimrobertfan: Will you be singing on the show anytime soon? I love it when you sing. You have a unique voice. Kim: Unique? What an interesting word choice! I don't think I'll be singing on the show. We do have a lot of good singers on the show. misty449: What did you do on New Year's Eve? Kim: We gathered a group together that we hadn't seen in a long time, about 15-20 people. The party lasted two days. It was great. mystictigress: Do you ever envy Reva? The wildness that she lives and gets away with? Kim: No. Not at all. I've always said that we share similar qualities in that we have a zest for life, and live our lives to their fullest, but I don't envy her problems. baby_abercrombie_2000: What is your favorite episode? Kim: One would have to be a show Trent Jones wrote. It was after Reva and H.B. got married. She came into his bedroom wanting to make love, and he had this long monologue about not being able to fulfill me as a man. It was the most beautiful moment that I have ever seen on daytime. And there have been so many moments with Robert. The rape one was good. That was tough. I was pregnant at the time. They shot it all on one camera so if I'd forgotten a line they'd have to redo it. H.B. was an inspiration, not just as a character, but as a man. He taught Robert and I about life and living. He was an old-time actor. He'd say, "You do it and you forget about it, life's too short to worry." PRISSY1196: Can you go in public without people hounding you? Kim: People don't really hound me. It's more a question of them wanting you to know that they know who you are, that nod of recognition. I've been followed around malls before, but I'll turn around and say, "You've got to stop following me!" buickpark68: I asked this earlier, but got booted offline, so I'll ask it again. How do you kiss Joshua without forgetting that you are just acting? Kim: When I'm kissing him, I'm not acting! bakersis: I love the tape that you did for GL, "Reva, The Scarlett Years." Kim: That's a compilation that should have been called the Reva and Josh tape, because it's a culmination of the years with Reva and Josh. It's a retrospective of the character of Reva. Kevin162001: Kim, if there was one thing you could do right now in the world, what would you do? Kim: Stop crimes against children. Lolo4RN: Does Reva think Josh was wrong for not taking her back...or does she understand his motives? Kim: I think she totally understands his motive. As a fan of the show, as someone who's watching, I say, he needs the space just as much as Reva does. shosho26: What is the most rewarding thing about what you do? Kim: The challenge of the amount of work we do everyday and the fact that 90 percent of the time the work gets done, really done. 90 percent of the time I can walk out of the studio knowing I gave the work my all. It's sometimes not very easy with the state that the show is in. The morale is low, people are upset with the direction it's taken. We try to boost each other's morale. Good-bye everyone. This has been a lot of fun. Your questions were very insightful. I love you all. Keep the faith. Let's keep it going another 63 years. Bye. |
