| 8/14/97 - Kim Zimmer/Robert Newman SOD Chat |
| SOD: Welcome to our chat tonight with Robert Newman and Kim Zimmer...Guiding Light's Josh & Reva! Robert's here and ready to answer your questions, we're just waiting for Kim to get off the set! But she'll be here in moments. So anyway...Welcome Robert! Robert: Hey gang! Sorry, you'll just have to put up with me alone for a bit. Don't hurt me now, I'm very fragile! Question: Do you think that Annie is going to have any more nasty effects on Josh? Robert: The lady is nuts, what can I say? Are there any other types of effects from her besides "nasty"? Seriously, the answer I am told will be a definite yes. Sorry, but it will get ugly for a bit. Question: Robert, have you thought about speaking to theatre majors at CSUN? I went there in the 80's with your mom. Robert: With my mom! LOL, I'll have to tell her that. I did speak there when I was in town but it's a bit far, 3000 miles away, for me to travel just to speak to some theatre majors who probably don't know that they want to do soaps yet. Question: For Robert...is there anyone in Springfield that you would like to have a storyline with besides Reva or Annie? Robert: Oh, let's see...Practically any female on the show. When we did the scenes building Matessa's house, "if you build it, they will come", I remember looking at the room of all the actresses on the show and thinking, "wow". I would say Amanda would be real interesting and possibly Blake. Or perhaps both at the same time. Woo Woo! Question: We're seeing more of Jordan Clarke lately! Yeah! Is he going to get put on contract? Robert: I can't speak for Jordan's contract but we'll definitely be seeing more of him in the Cassie/Lewis Oil story and I don't mean his waistline! Question: Are there any plans for Larry Gates and his tribute? We have been waiting patiently for 8 months and it is long overdue. Robert: Yes! Finally! We are taping those scenes next week. So far the scripts look pretty good. I'm not sure how I personally will get through it. You should be seeing those scenes in a couple of weeks. Question: Here is a very serious question; exactly how many blue shirts does Josh have? Robert: 1,287 and counting and 1,287 pairs of underwear to match. LOL. Question: Robert, I just watched today's show and was shocked to see you with Laura Wright in a dream sequence, making out...how did that make you feel? Robert: Don't want to go there! I felt, uh, old? And chubby. And not like the "sexiest man in daytime". But I must say the scenes were fun to shoot. I didn't notice Laura's body at all...Next question please! SOD: BTW, Kim Zimmer is on the GL set right now. She'll be here momentarily... Question: When will Josh and Reva start building their dream house? Robert: Well, as you know, it only takes about a day to build a house in Springfield. Soon is the only answer I can give you right now. Question: You once said kissing Kim Z. was like kissing your sister. How do you make it look so passionate? Robert: You should see my sister! Question: I grew up watching GL! My grandmother and mother also watch. How do you feel when fans tell you that? Robert: I hear that all the time and it makes me feel old and chubby. No, really, it makes me feel great. I really enjoyed the 60th Anniversary book. I hope you all did, too. Question: Will Reva and Josh have more kids? Will they name them after Annie? Robert: Oh please...More kids that will wind up in some therapist's office down the road! Little Annie "Psycho" Lewis and her brother Alan "Bad Guy" Lewis. Question: Do you two like your new story line with Cassie Layne? I hope that she'll come to her senses and see how nice you guys are and turn on Annie! Robert: Laura is great, a real pro and I don't mean like Cassie is a real pro. I think she will be a good addition to our group of players for this storyline. She fits in so well already. She's just insane enough to hold her own with me, Kim and Jordan. Question: Robert, I'd like to thank you for chatting with GL fans online in GLFRIENDS. We appreciate it more than you know. Is there anything in the works for a classy Jeva wedding with great passion and romance? Robert: I would add on location in Italy for about a month in which we only shoot three days. Question: What was your most embarrassing scene on GL? Robert: The one you already mentioned with Laura is right up there. But the one I saw on air was the Jeva scene in the upstairs bedroom. You all saw my underwear! I thought they were shooting from the waist up! That was my underwear, not Josh's! Of course I did get a wardrobe fee for it. Question: What do your spouses think of your steamy love scenes? Robert: Britt doesn't watch the show. "How was work today, dear?" - "Oh great, honey, in bed with Kim again." - "Oh how nice for you." SOD: Well, Zimmer has arrived... Robert: Zimmer who? Kim: How nice it is to finally be here. Question: Hey Kim, come and see me when my baby is born! Only six weeks left! Kim: I will. I'd love to, my head's in about fifty places at this moment. Question: Reva, when are you going to figure out Cassie is your sister? Josh, when are you two getting married --- again? Kim: I would imagine that Reva would find out. I don't know, is Cassie my sister? Robert: Maybe Cassie is Josh's sister. Kim: If she is, I guess it will come out around November sweeps. I would go with that. I have a sister I love dearly. She's in the loony bin. But Josh has always married psychos. I'm the only pyscho he hasn't married. Robert: But you are a psycho, my love...in real life. Kim: Only in bed. Robert: Oops, let's not go there! Question: Robert and Kim, love you both and GL! But with news today that WBBM is moving GL to battle opposite Oprah next month, isn't this just another sign of no support from CBS? Can't MADD stop the bleeding? Robert: It's not MADD's call, she can only do so much. You guys could help by writing like crazy. Kim: The actors would love nothing more than to have our original time slot back at a solid 3pm. We've been told that they've been working on it. Question: I just wanted to ask Kim, does it ever get tiresome to always be on the verge of tears whether happy or sad? Robert: Kim gets paid by the tear. Kim: Well, they don't write that. I'm in control of that and I guess that Kim and Reva happen to be very sensitive people. It's like not like they write it. It just happens in the scene. So whether you like it or not, I'm sorry or I'm not sorry. Robert: A per tear fee. I get paid by the stupid. Kim: Robert, shut up. :) Robert: How many Lewis boys does it take? Kim: He's such a funny guy on this internet thing, he has no sense of humor at the studio! LOL! To do what? Robert: To do Reva. Kim: Well, you haven't fulfilled me... Robert: We're running out! Only little Bill is left. Poor guy. Question: Do you think that Annie will ever leave Josh and Reva alone and get on with her life? Kim: From what I understand, fans like Annie intervening in our wonderful lives so I guess she'll be there forever. Robert: Like a rash... Question: Kim and Robert, with the show so good, what is your biggest concern in continuing the "Renaissance" that GL is enjoying? Kim: That CBS puts us back in good timeslots around the country and that they don't fire me and Robert. Robert: That the 24 hour Jeva station will be a big hit. WOO WOO! Question: Hiya Kim and Robert! Do you enjoy being apart of the longest running daytime drama? Is it alot of hard work? Kim: There's a real honor of course in knowing that you're a little piece of broadcast history. I know that there are little pieces that have been put into the Museum of Broadcasting and it's an honor to me and my parents. Robert: I love being a part of the longest running show in broadcast history. I agree with Kim, it's an honor and a paycheck, of course. Question: What is the best thing you've ever done? Think hard! Kim: Well, the obvious thing for me would be to have children. I guess that would also mean marrying my husband, LOL. Robert: Ditto, except the marrying A.C. part. Question: Who jokes around the most on the set of GL, and what kind of practical jokes have been played? Kim: Robert and I don't really play practical jokes on each other but we joke around a lot with each other on other people. It's scary the thought of us playing practical jokes on each other! Question: How does it make you feel to know that so many people love to watch Josh and Reva and care so much about what happens to the couple? Kim: That's interesting...I get mail from fans who actually comment on the various ways that Josh and Reva kiss each other...that we are the most creative kissers. Robert: I actually have a Kim Zimmer life size doll in my room that I practice on. Kim: I have to go! I apologize profusely but because I was late in taping, I have a previous engagement that I've got to go to. So I will definitely reschedule and do this again. Thank you everyone. Keep those cards and letters coming, especially to Chicago. Question: Does Cassie have a chance with Josh?? <g> Robert: Don't know that they are going that way. Besides, I'm too much for her anyway! Right? Question: Who are you favorite people to work with on the show besides each other? Robert: Love Jordan, Cynthia, Ron, the whole gang. Really enjoy Justin when we get a chance to work together. I would like to have looked at the Josh/Harley thing again but Phillip was too quick. Question: Where are you and Kim doing this chat from? Also do either of you have any upcoming appearances in or near Florida? Robert: I'm at home. Kimmer was at the studio. I'll be at a golf tourney in Hilton Head over Labor Day weekend. Question: Will there ever be a spinoff for Josh and Reva on night-time TV? Robert: "Jeva Knows Best" - The Robert Newman Show...With Co-Star Kim Zimmer. Question: Are you good friends on and off the soap? I ask this because the two of you have a wonderful interaction on the soap. Robert: Well, we don't have sex as much as Josh and Reva do. But yes, we are great friends and have been for a very long time. Question: How long have you actually been on GL? Robert: For me, since 1981...For Kim, since 1983, I think. Question: Is there any possible way that Lewis Oil will need a good lawyer/minister? Leo Flynn needs to be back because I miss Robert LuPone. Robert: Yes, we need more psychos in our storyline. Question: Where did you learn to kiss like you do? All that touchy stuff is so romantic. Robert: From my dog Buffy. (sniff) I really miss him. Question: Do you think Josh has changed in the new relationship with Reva? Robert: I think they have both changed, or at least I hope they have. Both must continue to grow and I think they will. Gotta go, gang, last question. And thanks for all your e-mails and all the chats. You are a great bunch and I really appreciate your love for the show. Question: Robert, if they were to make a movie of your life, which actor would you like to see play you? Robert: Pee Wee Herman. Love his work, a genius. Thanks so much for coming. Really enjoyed it...In fact, why don't you all come over right now and we'll have a big party? |
