| Official Kim Zimmer Fan Club Interview with Brittany Snow: May 17, 2001 |
| KZFC: We miss you very much on GL but wish you all the best in future endeavors. What projects are you working on now? Brittany: I really wanted to focus on school. It wasn't because I wanted to work on anything else. It's just that I wanted to get back to school and have all those experiences. Guiding Light was one of the best experiences of my life. I know that I'll always have a place there but I just felt that it was time to move on. I recently did a pilot called "Murphy's Dozen," which was great. It didn't get picked up, but it was really fun. KZFC: We would have loved to see more scenes with Susan and Reva. Did you learn a lot from working with Kim Zimmer? Brittany: I didn't work with her a lot, but we had a lot of conversations off the set. We were really good friends and I love her so much. She is an amazing lady who I learned so much from, about acting and about other stuff. She's so great, she has a great heart and she's so hilarious. If I was having a bad day or I had a problem I could go to her and she could make me so happy. It was really an experience working with her and I will always remember it. People talk about Kim Zimmer being such a great lady, and she totally is, everything is true, and I love her. KZFC: Everyone was excited to see you on-screen at Edmund's coronation. It wasn't announced and it really was wonderful to have Susan there. Brittany: I just wanted to be able to say good bye to everyone there. Maybe I'll be back on Guiding Light, I have no idea. KZFC: Do you still watch Guiding Light to keep up with what's happening on the show? Brittany: I watch Guiding Light whenever I get home from school. It comes on right after school so I get home from school and watch it and it's so weird to see everybody because I know what the sets looks like and I know what they're doing. It's so weird to watch it but it's so good, I get to look at everybody because I miss them so much. It's definitely a great show. KZFC: Susan was one of the few characters who saw something in Edmund that she truly cared about. How was working with David Andrew MacDonald? Brittany: I love David! He is so great, he's the coolest guy, one of the coolest guys I think I have ever met in my life. He's so intelligent and has so much to offer on about many things, life and the world, and I totally loved working with him. He's hilarious and he's taught me so much and it was an experience I'll never forget. KZFC: If asked to come back to Guiding Light, with less work, so you could do other things, would you do that? Will we see any guest appearances this summer like Susan's unexpected presence at Edmund's coronation? Brittany: Definitely. If they were ever able to do that, I would like it, but Guiding Light is so great and I love it so much and it wouldn't be fair to them to have to work around me. She's connected to so many main characters on the show. To come in every once in a while, I think it wouldn't be fair to only see the character every once in a while. But if they could ever do that, it would be great, I would definitely be honored. KZFC: What did you find to be the biggest challenge with playing Susan? Brittany: With some of the stuff they gave me at the beginning, I had to kind of work at because she wasn't exactly a developed character yet. I kind of had to make her into who she was. And I think it was very hard to play someone with so many issues, but so very kind and human like she wanted to be. And it was hard but it was definitely the most fun I could have ever played. Definitely my favorite character. KZFC: From the very beginning, the scenes with Susan and Harley had incredible realism to them. Did you connect with Beth Ehlers from your first scenes with her, or did it take some time? Was she your closest friend on the set? Brittany: From the moment that I got the part on Guiding Light, I definitely connected with Beth first. She is so amazing and I feel like I have known her forever. We did have this connection, and I told her everything about myself. I could tell her anything. She was like second mother to me. She really helped me a lot with the character. I think we worked really great together. KZFC: If you could have chosen your own storyline, what kind of story would you have liked to see your character involved in? Brittany: I would have liked her to have more scenes with her grandmother, I never really had a moment with Reva that was really great. I would have loved to see her with Reva. KZFC: There were those scenes when Susan met her biological father, Dylan, and Reva was there, and Harley as well but Hayley Sparks was filling on for Beth Ehlers. But it was great to watch Susan actually have that interaction with Dylan. Brittany: That was so great. I loved that whole side of it with finding out about Reva and finding out about Dylan. I would have loved more of that side of it. KZFC: When out in public, do you get recognized a lot? Brittany: Sometimes, not a lot. I don't think I look a lot like I do on the show. Sometimes it's more of a thrill for me than that person. I get all excited, I'm like, "Yeah!" It's great, it's fun. KZFC: What GL storyline was your favorite to play? What about your least favorite? Brittany: I really didn't like to see Tony (Anthony Addabbo; ex-Jim) go. I loved working with him. He was so cool, I loved him like a dad. To have the storyline where Jim died, it was really tough. I really think Tony is a great guy and I miss him a lot. I really liked the Susan/Max storyline. That and working with Beth Ehlers, and the mother-daughter storyline, I loved that. But the Max stuff was really great. He was her first love and we had those scenes where he broke up with her and it was really wonderful material to play. KZFC: Congratulations on your Young Actress Award, in LA....Did you enjoy your time there? I know there were conflicting reports about your presence there with some of the magazines saying you didn't make it, some saying you came late, etc. Brittany: Thank you! I was late because I was filming a pilot and they would not let me go! By the time I got there, my award had already been presented. So I was there, but not in time to accept my award. KZFC: When the Emmy nominations were announced I know there was a lot of disappointment among GL fans who not only knew you deserved the nomination, but to win the Emmy as well. Brittany: Thank you so much. I was disappointed because it is a dream of mine to get nominated. But who knows what the future will bring? KZFC: In your early years, would anyone have been surprised that you chose to be an actress, or did they see it coming? Brittany: I have always wanted to be an actress. It's always been my goal. Ever since I can remember, that's been what I have wanted to do. KZFC: What is one of the funniest things a fan has done when they have met you? Brittany: Well, I was in a store and this lady actually started yelling at me for things that Susan had said to Harley. She got really mad that I was messing up Harley's life. KZFC: Is there any message you would like to send the Guiding Light fans who have enjoyed your time on GL immensely and who will miss you terribly? Brittany: I really want to say thank you for all the support you have given me. It's been so great to be able to meet so many people at the different events I have been to and to hear what you have to say about the character. And I might be back on Guiding Light, you never know. Thank you so much! |
