The Tuesday, November 11, episode of GL will be a very special one for Kim, but not because of some far-out stunt or well worded monologue. Rather, on that day, Jake, her youngest child with actor/producer/director husband A.C. Weary, makes his professional acting debut, sharing scenes with the Emmy-award winner herself. "I'm surprised that not all our kids have an interest in acting," Zimmer admits, "because it really is in the blood on both of our parts. But this all kind of happened, all on his own, for Jake."

Following in his mom and dad's footsteps seemed a natural step for Jake. "I've been thinking about acting ever since I was little," says the eighth grader, who often spends his weekends filming movies with his pals. "I wasn't nervous to tell my parents, because I knew they'd let me!"

Although the teen has taken the first step in pursuing his dream by having professional headshots taken, Zimmer notes, "we haven't started the process yet of getting him an agent. But [GL publicity director] Alan Locher knows that Jake wants to act, and after reading this part in a breakdown, he called A.C. and asked if it was something we thought Jake would be interested in doing. And after we had talked it over, we decided that it would be a great first job for Jake to have because it was only two scenes and he'd be working with me. But whether that made him more nervous or not, I don't know!"

"Yeah, it
did," responds Jake, sending his mother into a laughing fit. "But [taping the scenes was] actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. It was exciting because whenever I came here, I always wanted to be in the show. Seeing everybody doing the episode was just a thrill for me and I really wanted to do it too."

And as he shared the stage with his mom while his dad watched from the wings, young Jake couldn't have made his parents prouder.
