THIS IS IT! JOSH AND REVA REMARRY (from Soap Opera Weekly):

The third time is the charm for Josh and Reva. This week, friends and family gather for their long-awaited wedding, and it goes off without a hitch.

“The wedding happens,” assures Robert Newman (Josh). “Nobody comes running in saying Annie's alive or whatever. There's no gun that comes out from behind a curtain. Josh and Reva aren't worried. They are at peace and fine --- even though Olivia is present. There's some interaction with her at the reception, but not during the wedding. Josh and Reva have surrounded themselves with their immediate family members and whatever friends they have left.”

At the Beacon the day before the wedding, Cassie and Richard beat Josh and Reva to the punch and renew their vows. Later, at the rehearsal dinner, the focus returns to Reva and Josh as Vanessa and Bill arrive, along with other familiar faces.

“The writers have done a good job of making it as intimate as they can, considering the fact they have a lot of people there who shouldn't be there. I don't like the idea that Olivia is at the wedding,” admits Kim Zimmer (Reva).

Zimmer describes the ceremony as “an infomercial for marriage. Actually, someone else said that, because they have the chairs in a circle, it's like a Josh and Reva therapy session. It will be nice for the audience to see the faces of people who came back.”

While Newman wasn't worried about how the writers would handle the wedding ---“The more in advance I know, the more I worry, and it's not worth worrying about, he shares" --- Zimmer confides she “was very nervous. Robert and I had gone in a while ago and pitched to have it just be family and a justice of the peace at Cross Creek. Of course, when the scripts started coming in and it turned into [something bigger], I was a little…it didn't fit well.”

But Zimmer didn't want to become the wedding planner. “They did what they wanted to do and prayed we wouldn't freak out,” she adds with a laugh.

Several scenes moved Newman to tears. “That's good, because if I get choked up, there's a good chance the audience will, too,” he relates. “Particularly around the area where they refer to H.B. and Sarah and Miss Martha not being present. The writers did a great job of trying to find something that is totally nontraditional. That was something Kim and I had talked with them about, not to orchestrate the wedding but to try to throw around ideas. I mean, what do you say the third time around?”

Well, you can sing. Before the ceremony, Josh ribs Reva by producing a tape of her singing Proud Mary at the Blue Orchid years ago, then he performs a tune from the Temptations. Reva responds by serenading Josh with a heartfelt solo.

There's another unique touch during the ceremony: “We use bits and pieces from different cultures, something from Portugal, something from the Jewish wedding ceremony, something for an East Indian ceremony…” previews Newman. “Josh refers to it as a little extra protection on this wedding.”

On Monday, June 10, Josh and Reva are pronounced husband and wife. What's next for the “newlyweds”? “We've driven the psycho ex-girl friend/wife of Josh into the ground, so I don't foresee another Olivia or Annie,” offers Newman. “I wanted the writers to join together Billy, Reva and Josh against Alan, like a throwback to the Dynasty days of the small mom and pop guys versus the conglomerate. Also, I feel there's some unfinished business between Reva and Billy. But I could just be another fan guessing at stuff. I do get the impression they are intent on keeping the couple together. The audience has had enough of Josh and Reva getting together and then six weeks later separating again.” This is it, according to Zimmer. “I'm not doing it again. They can get someone else to do it again!” she cracks.

Zimmer adds that she isn't agonizing anymore over what's ahead for Josh and Reva. “I'm living in ignorant bliss. I'm hoping they don't have us fade into the woodwork, that they create something that we can do as a couple and not just be parents to Marah and Shayne. There's more to us than just that."

"It's been six months without much of anything to do,” the outspoken actress continues. “You know where I'm at right now? I'm not in it just for the paycheck. If I find I'm not being challenged over the next few months. I won't stay. I just can't stand around and collect a paycheck. I'm biding my time until I see if they have room for Reva on their canvas. If they don't, then I don't have a problem making their job easier and leaving.”

As for right now, Zimmer applauds the show for how the wedding turned out. “The ceremony itself is unique. It will be special,” she promises. “You put Robert and me together and it will be fine.”

Something Blue

Reva and Josh's wedding will break from tradition (it is their third trip to the altar), so Guiding Light costume designer Shawn Dudley and Kim Zimmer put a great deal of thought into what Reva would wear this time around.

“This is not going to be a wedding gown of any sort,” explains Dudley. “We decided that this was going to be a formal event --- blacktie and evening gowns --- so she was going to end up in more of an evening gown. The wedding itself is not going to have a processional and bridesmaids. It's more loose. We decided to make it a big celebration, more like a party.”

Without a formal wedding gown, won't it be hard to ensure that all eyes will be on the bride? “She's going to stand out,” assures Dudley, who designed the dress after he and Zimmer couldn't find anything they liked in stores. (They shopped separately.) “There's not a lot of variety out there. There are a lot of black dresses, very plain dresses, or overly beaded, and that was something Kim didn't want. She wanted simple, plain and different from anything she's worn before. I looked at the tapes of the first two weddings to try to gauge where we were going to go. We both looked at pictures and magazines, and then got together and compared. We took elements and put them together into one dress.”

The dramatic sleeves are sheer chiffon, with a touch of heading. The train is also chiffon, with an overlay of chiffon over the silk. The train hits the ground slightly. Jennifer Love created it from Dudley’s design.

According to Dudley, designing the dress from scratch also saved GL a few bucks. “It's not as expensive as buying a wedding gown,” he maintains. “Wedding gowns average four grand now. I wanted to try to find a dress to buy for this, but I wasn't able to, so when I can't find something I turn around and say, ‘Well, we have to make it.’ I hope it will be different. It's a very un-Revaish dress.”

JOSH & REVA --- HAPPY AT LAST! (from Soaps In Depth):

It looks like, after much ado and many years apart, Josh and Reva will get a happy ending. This week, surrounded by their family and friends, they prepare to exchange wedding vows.

As the big day draws closer, the couple extended their arms to welcome back to Springfield some long-lost relatives. Returning for the Lewises’ third trip down the aisle are Mindy (Krista Tesreau), Hawk (Gil Rogers), Dylan (Morgan Englund), Rusty (Terrell Anthony), Trish (Rebecca Hollen), Vanessa (Maeve Kinkead) and Bill (recast Daniel Cosgrove).

The night before the nuptials, the Shayne and Lewis clans check into the newly-renovated Beacon Hotel to ready themselves for the next day's activities. Spirits are high at the rehearsal dinner as they look forward to the next afternoon’s much anticipated event. When Marah's beau, Tony, arrives --- uninvited but offering a wedding gift and a truce --- the bride-to-be even asks him to stay. As the party breaks up, the bride and groom retire to separate suites, having decided to spend the night before their wedding apart. Yet neither Josh nor Reva is able to stick to their pact, and the couple meet outside. Walking through the hotel grounds, hand in hand, star-crossed lovers Josh and Reva wish upon the twinkling lights in the clear sky that their future will be as wonderful as that very moment.

FAMILIAR FACES SHARE IN JOSH AND REVA'S BIG DAY! (from Soaps In Depth):

But Who's Missing?

To celebrate the upcoming marriage of Josh and Reva as well as its own 50th TV anniversary, GL sent out wedding invitations to a slew of former cast members. Here's the list of which alumni RSVP’d for the big event --- and a few who interestingly didn't!

Back for the event are Maeve Kinkead (as Josh's sometime sister-in-law, Vanessa), Krista Tesreau (Mindy), Gil Rogers (Hawk), Terrell Anthony (Rusty), Rebecca Hollen (Trish) and Morgan Englund (Dylan). “They're all here!” raves Kim Zimmer of the alumni parade, which begins Wednesday, June 5. “Walking into the rehearsal, it was just amazing the energy in there!”

”I had some scenes with Rick and Phillip,” shares Tesreau, who hints that her visit could last beyond the celebration. “There is talk [of me staying]."

“Returning was like going to a family reunion,” she adds. “It gave me such a warm feeling.”

“They made a very wise choice,” says Zimmer of the all-star gathering. “And I think it's going to pay off.”

Alas, even when treated to a wealth of old favorites, long time GL fans may find a bone to pick with who wasn't invited back. Take Kurt McKinney, whose Matt will not be on wife Vanessa's arm when she arrives. Of his omission, McKinney shrugs, “I'm not sure why that was.” Then he quips, “I guess they only had room for one Reardon!”

Even Signy Coleman, the last actress to play Josh's off-kilter ex-wife, Annie Dutton, relished the idea of her evil alter ego playing wedding-day spoiler. “I could have thrown a little rain on their parade!” she says with a gleeful grin.
