Kim Zimmer turned the tables on Crossing Over's John Edward Feb. 5 when she filmed an upcoming segment for SoapNet's Soap Center. Instead of Edward doing a reading with her, she interviewed him.

"My daughter, Rachel, is addicted to the show; it's the only television she watches,"  explains Zimmer of the genesis of the meeting, which took place at GL. "Her roommates (at college) make fun of her because she buys into the whole thing. I'm a believer that people have the ability to do this. I don't care if he's for real or not, I think he does provide a service. For people who have been victims of traumatic loss or people who feel they have unresolved issues with family members, it's helpful."

Edward agreed to be in the hot seat, as it were, because he's a GL fan. "He has a lot of opinions about the show, and he's right about every single one of them," states Zimmer. "He's angry there's no history anymore. Obviously, that's something that's important to him. He had some wonderful storyline ideas. He wants Reva to become him!  He said, 'You conjured your mother at your wedding.' He proposed that Reva  should become the medium for the show's anniversary [in June]. Reva gets signs from Nadine and Maureen and gives messages to all the characters. We would have to fudge a little, because he never sees people when he gets signs."

Zimmer didn't want to do a reading with Edward because, as she told him, "I don't have any close friends or relatives who have passed that I feel I have unfinished business with. I know that the people who have passed in my life are okay."  That's when Edward struck a nerve. "He said, 'So there really isn't anyone you feel you want to make sure that everything is okay with?' I said, 'No' and he said, 'What about Larry?' I went, 'Larry?' --- and he said, 'Mr. Gates.'" (The late actor played H.B. Lewis from 1983-'96.)

Zimmer was stunned. "When Larry died," she reveals, "I hadn't seen him for six months, and I felt so guilty that I never had closure with him. John brought that up out of the clear blue, as if Larry was there --- saying, 'What about me?'"
